My teacher for contemporary themes is Ms. Sutton.

For the next two assignments, they both come from the same place.
The first is a research project on teens and self harm. We picked the topic and between our group, we found information on the topic and put together a prezi and a video to go with our research. We then presented what we found to the class.
This was meaningful because the issue of self harm hits close to home for me. Getting the issue out there so people know that it is an issue and that it is something that is affecting teens and just people in general can help others to cope with the issue and to help others who might be dealing with things internally.
From this project, I honestly didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. Like I said, this issue hits home for me so I basically knew everything from the get go.
The second project was a bullying project. We researched the topic and found different examples and prevention and intervention methods that can be taken to hopefully stop the spread of bullying. We did the same as we did with the first project except that this time, we had to present to the freshman and sophomore classes as well.
I felt that this was meaningful because it brings light to a topic that normally isn't touched upon. We gave a name to the people that bully others and we showed that we can stand up for each other and protect each other and try to stop this behavior that is going around.
From this I learned the true meaning of bullying. I didn't know before and now I do know. I learned different ways to help victims and bullies alike and how to hopefully stop this from continuing any more than it already has.
